Introduction to the Seven Major Disciplines

 

  1. Cement Materials

  CBMA is the leader of cement-based material application research, the pioneer of special cement, the cradle of the cement industry, and the birthplace of Chinese concrete admixtures, building waterproof materials, chemical building materials, dry mortar, special engineering materials research and application. In the early 1950s, CBMA developed the first admixture product of China – an air-entraining agent; in the 1970s, a major technological achievement with pioneering significance in Chinese cement industry – cement kiln decomposition technology was successfully developed, which laid a solid foundation for the development of new dry cement production technology in China; CBMA has developed more than 60 varieties of special cement in 6 systems and 8 types, among which sulphoaluminate cement, iron-aluminate cement and high belite cement are new varieties of cement with independent intellectual property rights and internationally leading, providing strong technical support for the construction of major fields.

  CBMA has led and undertaken more than 300 national and local large-scale scientific research projects related to cement materials, such as the national "863 Program", "973 Program", the National Key Research and Development Program, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. It has won more than 400 national, provincial and ministerial awards, such as the second prize of the National Invention Award for the Technology and Engineering Application of low-heat micro-expansion cement and high-performance concrete for high-speed railway. It has accumulated more than 300 valid invention patents, is the supporting unit of TC184 National Cement Standardization Technical Committee, formulated China's first cement national standard and the first RILEM international standard, and issued more than 280 national and industry standards; it has domestic and foreign scientific and technological cooperation and exchange platforms such as the State Key Laboratory of Green Building Materials, the Key Laboratory of Cement-based Materials Science in the Building Materials Industry, the Engineering Technology Center for Protective Repair and Reinforcement Materials in the Building Materials Industry, the International Science and Technology Cooperation Base for Green Building Materials, and the Cement Branch of the Chinese Ceramic Society.

  2. Glass-based Materials

  CBMA has been deeply engaged in the field of glass materials for more than 70 years, filling a number of domestic gaps, and is the pioneer unit of passive interference materials, low-light night vision and ultraviolet alarm core materials in China. In 1956, the first bundle of alkali-free glass fiber in China was successfully developed; In 1957, the first quartz glass in China was successfully developed; In 1958, China’s first aviation glass and the first aircraft bulletproof glass were successfully developed; In 1963, China’s first optical fiber was drawn and Chinese first optical fiber bundle was made; In 1965, it successfully invented one of the world's three major float glass technology, "Luoyang float glass technology"; In 1977, the optical fiber was successfully drawn, and the first optical cable communication line in China adopted the optical fiber developed. The optical fiber panel series products were successfully developed in the 1970s, and the microchannel plate series products were successfully developed in the 1980s. At present, it mainly focuses on the three major research directions of quartz glass, glass fiber and special functional glass, and develops a series of products such as special quartz glass, special optical glass and glass optical fibers and devices, which provide key supporting materials for Chinese aviation, aerospace, weapons, shipbuilding, electronics, nuclear industry, and other fields and major national projects.

  CBMA has led and undertaken more than 260 national and local large-scale scientific research projects; it has won more than 100 national, provincial and ministerial awards; it has accumulated more than 400 valid invention patents, is the supporting unit of TC447 National Technical Committee for Standardization of Industrial Glass and Special Glass, and has issued more than 50 national and industry standards such as GB/T41742-2022 low-temperature sealing glass for optoelectronic devices. It has domestic and foreign scientific and technological cooperation and exchange platforms such as the National Glass Deep Processing Engineering Technology Research Center, the Glass-based Functional Materials Technology Innovation Center, the Key Laboratory of Special Glass Preparation and Processing in the Building Materials Industry, the Key Laboratory of Special Optoelectronic Materials in the Building Materials Industry, the Key Laboratory of Quartz Glass in the Building Materials Industry and other scientific and technological innovation platforms.

  3. Ceramic Materials

  CBMA is one of the earliest institutions engaged in the research of advanced ceramic materials in China, and developed the first 70-meter continuous boron nitride fiber in China in 1988; In 2005, the first large-size silicon nitride radome in China was developed; In 2008, the anti-heat insulation ceramic material developed by CBMA helped the flame lantern successfully reach the summit of Mount Everest and ignited the "auspicious cloud" torch of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games at the top of the world. At present, it mainly focuses on the research directions of oxide ceramics, carbide ceramics, nitride ceramics, and ceramic matrix composites, and develops silicon carbide ceramics, silicon nitride ceramics, alumina ceramics, ultra-high voltage electric porcelain, ceramic membranes, quartz ceramics, foamed ceramics and other products, which have made important contributions to Chinese high-end equipment, new materials, new energy, energy conservation and environmental protection and other strategic emerging industries.

  CBMA has led and undertaken more than 200 national and local large-scale scientific research projects such as national key research and development plans related to ceramic materials; it has won more than 140 national, provincial and ministerial awards and building materials industry awards, such as the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award and the first prize of the National Key Technology Invention Award; it has accumulated more than 200 valid invention patents, and is the supporting unit of TC194 National Technical Committee for Standardization of Industrial Ceramics and TC249 National Technical Committee for Standardization of Building and Sanitary Ceramics, and is the domestic technical counterpart of ISO/TC 206 International Fine Ceramics Standardization Committee and ISO/TC 189 International Ceramic Brick Standardization Committee, and has issued GB/T 37258-2018 "Silicon Nitride Ceramic Powder" and more than 150 national and industry standards; it has the National Industrial Ceramics Engineering Technology Research Center, Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory of Wave-Transmitting Functional Ceramic Materials, Shaanxi Provincial Engineering Technology Research Center for Solid Waste-based Ceramic Materials, Shandong International Demonstration Base for Advanced Ceramic Materials, Key Laboratory of High-temperature Ceramic Membrane Materials in Building Materials Industry, Advanced Ceramics Branch of China Building and Sanitary Ceramics Association, "Ceramics", "Advanced Ceramics" scientific and technological journals and other domestic and foreign scientific and technological cooperation and exchange platforms.

  4. Composite Materials

  CBMA is one of the earliest scientific research institutions engaged in the research and development of resin matrix composites and is the main birthplace of Chinese fiber winding technology, hot melt prepreg technology, pultrusion technology, lamination technology, structure/function integration technology, continuous fiber reinforced high-performance thermoplastic winding and pultrusion technology. In 1958, the first FRP plate (1200 mm× 500 mm× 5 mm) in China was successfully produced. At present, it mainly focuses on the research direction of composite materials and typical components of aerospace vehicles and has made important achievements in prepreg preparation and placement technology, structural design simulation and analysis technology, high-performance resin systems and functional materials, process equipment design, and manufacturing technology. It has developed composite launch devices, composite cabins, new elastic wings, composite high-pressure gas cylinders and storage tanks, carbon fiber composite satellite (spaceship) structural parts, and other products for Chinese aviation, aerospace, navy and air force, weapons and other fields and major national projects have provided key supporting materials.

  CBMA has led and undertaken more than 10 national and local large-scale scientific research projects; it has won more than 100 national, provincial and ministerial awards such as the National Science and Technology Progress Special Award and the Second Prize; it has accumulated more than 90 valid invention patents, and is the supporting unit of the first batch of National Resin Matrix Composite Engineering Technology Research Center established by the State Science and Technology Commission (Ministry of Science and Technology), the vice chairman unit of the National Fiber Reinforced Plastics Standardization Committee, and has issued more than 50 national and industry standards such as GB/T 32788-2016 prepreg performance test method; it has domestic and foreign scientific and technological cooperation and exchange platforms such as the National Engineering Technology Research Center for Resin Matrix Composites, the Heilongjiang Provincial Composite Materials Pultrusion Engineering Technology Center, the Heilongjiang Provincial Engineering Technology Research Center for Composite Materials Equipment in the Field of Water Treatment, and the Postdoctoral Research Workstation.

  5. Synthetic Crystal Materials

  CBMA is the first scientific research institute in the research and application of synthetic crystal materials. In 1964, China's first artificial crystal, the first synthetic mica, and the first double-sided synthetic diamond were developed; In 1982, it was the first time in the world to use the flux method to grow a single KTP crystal that can be used for actual frequency doubling. It has successively developed 32 kinds of crystal products with 291 specifications, which meet the major needs of the country in different historical periods. Now it has formed laser and nonlinear crystals, scintillation crystals, infrared optical crystals, crystals and piezoelectric crystals, semiconductor crystals and other research directions, and the products are widely used in laser, optoelectronics, communications, aerospace, and other high-tech fields, and play a key role in the development of many major national projects and strategic emerging industries.

  CBMA has led and undertaken 110 national and local large-scale scientific research projects such as national key R&D plans related to synthetic crystal materials; it has won 2 first prizes in the National Science and Technology Progress Award, 5 second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and more than 200 provincial and ministerial awards. It has accumulated more than 70 valid invention patents, is the supporting unit of TC461 National Synthetic Crystals Standardization Technical Committee and TC460 National Stone Standardization Technical Committee, and has issued more than 100 national and industry standards such as GB/T 39131-2020 "Synthetic Crystals Material Terminology"; it has important academic resources and scientific and technological innovation platforms such as Beijing Engineering Laboratory of Synthetic Crystals, “Journal of Synthetic Crystals”, and “Bulletin of the Chinese Ceramic Society”.

  6. Refractory Materials

  CBMA is a technology leader in Chinese fused casting refractories and chrome-free refractories. Its holding company, Ruitai Technology Co., Ltd. (stock code: 002066) integrates R&D, production, sales, and comprehensive services, providing refractory technology, refractory materials, construction and installation, and other comprehensive services for high-temperature kilns in glass, cement, steel, nonferrous metals, electric power, petrochemical, coal chemical industry, hazardous waste treatment and other industries, and providing overall refractory solutions for Chinese first localized pre-decomposition kiln. It has pioneered the research and development of a series of green and low-carbon refractories such as low-thermal conductivity multi-layer composite mullite bricks, and for the first time overcome the fused casting refractories for vitrification of high-level radioactive waste liquid of nuclear waste, and solved the "stuck neck" engineering technology of vitrification of high-level radioactive waste liquid in China.

  CBMA has led and undertaken 17 national and local large-scale scientific research projects such as national key research and development plans related to refractories; it has won more than 60 national, provincial and ministerial awards such as the second and third prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award; it has accumulated nearly 300 valid invention patents, and is the president unit of China Refractory Industry Association, the chairman unit of the Refractory Branch of China Building Materials Federation, the chairman unit of the Refractory Branch of China Ceramic Society, the deputy director unit of the National Refractory Standards Committee, the vice president unit of China Architectural Glass and Industrial Glass Association, and the vice chairman unit of China Daily Glass Association. It has 6 national and industry standards such as "Test Method for Corrosion Resistance of Refractories for Refractory Materials for Cement Kiln with Domestic Waste Pretreatment and Combustibles"; it has scientific and technological innovation platforms such as the building materials industry, glass kiln melting and casting refractory engineering technology center, etc.

  7. High-Tech Services

  7.1 Testing and Certification

  CBMA has the largest service organization in the field of construction and decoration materials and construction engineering in China. Its holding company China Testing & Certification International Group Co., Ltd. (stock code: 603060) has service capabilities covering the design, research and development, production, use, logistics, and consumption of building materials and construction engineering, environment, intelligent manufacturing, rail transit, medical health, food and agricultural products, cosmetics and daily chemical products, geology and minerals and other industries.

  CBMA has led and undertaken more than 200 national and local large-scale scientific research projects related to testing technology, such as the 863 Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Major Scientific Instrument and Equipment Development Project, the National Key R&D Program, and the Science and Technology Support Program. It has won more than 50 national, provincial and ministerial awards, such as "Key Technology and Application of Mechanical Performance Testing and Evaluation under Typical Application Conditions of Structural Ceramics", "Key Technology and Equipment and Application of Architectural Glass Service Risk Detection and Reliability Evaluation", and the Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award. It has accumulated nearly 300 valid invention patents,led the release and research of nearly 20 ISO and IEC international standards, and more than 700 national, industry, local and group standards, and is the supporting unit of more than 30 national industry product quality inspection centers such as the National Refractory Product Quality Supervision and Testing Center for Building Materials Industry and the Odor and Environmental Assessment and Testing Center for Building Materials Industry. It has scientific and technological innovation platforms such as the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's industrial (building materials for walls, roofing and roads) product quality control and technical evaluation laboratory, the public service platform for carbon peaking and carbon neutrality in key raw material industries, the Beijing International Science and Technology Cooperation Base for building and material inspection and certification technology, and the Testing Technology Branch of the Chinese Ceramic Society.

  7.2 Consulting Services

  CBMA has a number of national industrial design centers and Grade A design units in the building materials industry, with decades of leading technical experience in the field of engineering design, and its business covers glass engineering, cement engineering, gypsum board engineering, building wall engineering and other fields.

  7.3 Glass Engineering

  CBMA has a set of scientific research, design, engineering general contracting, equipment manufacturing as one of the comprehensive glass technology service enterprises, is Chinese "Luoyang float glass technology" origin unit, to promote the development of Chinese float glass industry, is also Chinese flat glass technology leader, has developed Chinese "Luoyang float glass technology", float melting furnace large-scale clarification process, oxy-fuel combustion furnace and many other epoch-making achievements. As a national industrial design center and a Grade A design unit in the building materials industry, it has completed the construction of China's first mass production float glass production line, Southeast Asia's first large-tonnage float glass production line, and the world's largest commercial oxy-glass furnace in the field of flat glass.

  CBMA has led more than 40 national, provincial and ministerial scientific research projects such as the "14th Five-Year Plan" key research and development plan; It has won more than 150 awards at or above the provincial and ministerial level, the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the National Design Gold Award, and more than 150 awards at or above the provincial and ministerial level; More than 100 valid patents have been accumulated; It is the supporting unit of TC255 National Technical Committee for Standardization of Architectural Glass, and has released more than 100 national and industry standards such as GB/T50527-2019 energy-saving design standard for flat glass factories; It has important academic resources such as the scientific journal "Glass".

  7.4 Special Engineered Materials

  CBMA is the birthplace of Chinese special engineering materials research, based on the third series of cement, the institute makes full use of the performance advantages of special cement-based materials and has developed concrete expansion agents, crushing agents, waterproof treasure, plugging agents, high-strength non-shrinkage grout, compensating shrinkage concrete and other products, as well as rigid self-waterproofing, ultra-long seamless construction, and other technologies, leading the development of Chinese special engineering materials. With the development of the times, the General Institute has formed three special engineering materials plates, namely chemical building materials, special cement-based materials, and repair and reinforcement materials, to serve the special needs of special projects such as high-speed railways, wind power, super high-rise buildings, water conservancy dams, and bridges.

  CBMA has rich experience in cement engineering design and new energy-saving and emission reduction transformation technology, supply and EPC general contracting, and has successfully completed more than 100 cement production lines and cement grinding station projects above 3000TPD scale at home and abroad, covering China, Ethiopia, Iraq, Jordan, Yemen, Libya, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, and other countries.

  CBMA has led and undertaken more than 20 national and local large-scale scientific research projects such as national key research and development programs related to special engineering materials, and has won 1 technical invention award in the building materials industry, 1 gold medal of Zhan Tianyou of China Civil Engineering Society, and more than 10 other provincial and ministerial science and technology awards; a total of 117 valid patents have been issued, and more than 40 standards such as GB/T 37990-2019 "Technical Requirements for Underwater Non-Dispersible Concrete Flocculants" have been issued; it has scientific research platforms such as the Engineering Technology Center for Protective Repair and Reinforcement Materials in the Building Materials Industry and the Concrete Technology Research Center of the Ministry of Construction.

  7.5 Gypsum Board Engineering

  CBMA is a Class A design and research unit engaged in engineering design, consulting, supervision, project management, engineering general contracting and technology research and development, and mechanical and electrical manufacturing of new building materials, glass, solid waste comprehensive utilization, and other building materials engineering, civil buildings (including intelligent buildings) and environmental protection projects. In the 1970s, the first mechanized gypsum board production line in China was developed, designed and built, which filled the gap of wall materials in China; designed and built Chinese first gypsum block production line and the first fully automated gypsum stucco production line; developed and designed a cast-type embedded decorative gypsum board production line. More than 400 large and medium-sized projects of various types have been completed and put into operation in the fields of new building materials, glass, cement, and other fields.

  CBMA has undertaken more than 200 national scientific and technological research projects and other research and development projects; it has won 27 national awards and more than 150 provincial and ministerial awards; more than 60 valid patents have been accumulated; it is the supporting unit of TC195 National Technical Committee for the Standardization of Lightweight and Decorative Building Materials, and has issued more than 20 national and industry standards such as "Gypsum Board"; it has academic resources such as the scientific and technological journal "New Building Materials".

  7.6 Building Wall Works

  CBMA is a national professional scientific research and design institute engaged in the research and design of wall and roofing material products. It has rich scientific research and engineering experience in the research and design of new wall materials, prefabricated buildings, and complete sets of technologies for comprehensive utilization of solid waste. At present, the comprehensive utilization of solid waste to prepare green wall materials as the starting point, vigorously carries out scientific and technological innovation. It has Grade A qualification for engineering design and engineering general contracting of wall materials, glass, ceramics and refractory materials, and Grade A qualification for engineering consulting.

  CBMA has undertaken more than 100 national, provincial and ministerial key science and technology projects, formulated and revised more than 50 national, local and industry standards, won 20 national and provincial science and technology awards, 39 national and provincial excellent design awards, and 14 industry excellent engineering consulting awards and general contracting awards; it has accumulated more than 70 valid patents. It has scientific and technological innovation platforms such as the United Nations China Wall Materials Development Center, the Wall and Roofing Road Materials Evaluation Laboratory of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and important academic resources such as the scientific and technological journal "Brick - Tile"; more than 1,000 production lines have been built at home and abroad.

  7.7 Precision Technology and Time Control

  CBMA has the only state-level watch scientific research institution in Chinese watch industry, is a key unit for the development of military timing instruments in China, and is also a service platform for new technology research and development and industry technical support in Chinese watch industry. The 318 mechanical time controller developed in 1975 was installed for the first time on China's first artificial earth satellite that successfully returned to the ground. With independent intellectual property rights of precision timing technology and theoretical system, the formation of "aerospace passive drive technology, high reliability short-term time control technology, space precision mechanism design and manufacturing process research, time synchronization technology research, time measurement and testing equipment research and development" as the characteristics of five core technologies and related national key model application products, widely used in aviation, aerospace, ships, weapons, electronics, clocks and other fields.

  CBMA has undertaken more than 70 national scientific and technological research projects and other research and development projects; it has won more than 30 national, provincial, and ministerial awards; more than 60 valid patents have been accumulated; it is the supporting unit of TC160 National Watch Standardization Technical Committee, and the domestic counterpart of ISO/TC 114 International Organization for Standardization Watch Technical Committee; more than 60 national and industry standards have been published; it has academic resources such as scientific and technological journal "Watch & Clock".
